That's unlikely to be worth doing, except as an exercise in writing a plugin.
The file input plugin disables seeking if the input is not a normal file.

Actually, since you're developing stuff, cloning one of the repositories
would be better. (1.1 should be fine, but 1.2 may be a better choice.)

1.10 for the most recent releases, but if you're using a cloned repository
then whatever you have installed should be fine (try to use 1.8 or later,
though).
