** OK have done so - I wasn't sure which package was needed.  All the
programs are now working.  I still cannot get a TV picture with Xine but
the sound isn't bad.  Can't understand why it is such a problem.  The
channels are playing but no matter what settings I tweak I cannot get a
picture.  There is absolutely no problem with Windows, but I want to use
Linux for everything.
