I have recently loaded Ubuntu 8.04, and wanted the capability to select sections of a DVD. It looked like gxine was the answer, so I used the Synaptic Package Manager to download the application. Ubuntu instructs us to then set our Home Folder preferences for DVDs to gxine. However, that choice is not available in the preferences menu. In addition, when I try to play a DVD I get the following error message: The xine engine failed to start. I am fresh from a Windows environment, and don't know where to go from here. Would appreciate any ideas. Alex ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
