http://xine-lib.alioth.debian.org/patches-1.2/ has some mpeg2new patches
which you can try (you need them all). There's a tarball there which contains
.hg/patches/* ready for use with mercurial's mq extension.

These aren't yet committed because some changes need to be ported from our
embedded libmpeg2.
