not getting "xine" binary after compile

After I compile xine-ui (configure, make, make install) I get everything
except the actual "xine" UI binary.  Here's a directory listing example:

There are no errors during the build.  What am I doing wrong?  I have
built this many times in the past, though on earlier versions of Fedora
(I am now using Fedora Core 10), and it has always worked fine.  It
almost seems like I'm missing a dev library for something with X (I have
both Gnome and KDE installed, though Gnome is my desktop environment).
