Question on how xine handle playback audio file

Hi user group. I have a question about xine engline and couldn't find it on the site. I would like to know how sine engline handle playback. does it read to ram buffer then read from the ram buffer when time to play. or it read directly from HD when time play. also does it support low latency as jack. How would xine compare to jack as far as only in playback options.
