Perhaps mplayer is broken? Or because it's GCC 4.4.0? (Mplayerhq has always
been very careful to assess compiler problems.)

The one I am using is
MPlayer dev-SVN-r29116-4.3-openSUSE Linux 11.1 (i686)-Packman (C) 2000-2009
and that does the job on takeshi.mkv.
