I'm glad you figured out how to do it. A text file can be easier to 
configure, but if there's not a documented process to do what you did, 
why not put a short HOWTO together and contribute it to the project? 
That way, you'd save someone else the trouble of trying to figure it out. :)

(Just a note - this would go to the UI you're using - xine-ui, gxine, etc.)
