overlapping subtitles, and dubious timing, in MPEg2 stream

Hello,

I use kaffeine, with the xine backend, to watch DVB-S. I found that
subtitles displayed close one after another (for example, if person
speak fast one after another) vertically overlap, making the lower one
unreadable.

I reproduced the issue in xine-ui when playing a recorded MPEG2
stream, so this is a xine issue not a kaffeine specific one.

I also noted, in the same recorded stream, that the timing of
subtitles on vlc was different (and fit the soundtrack better).

I can make the test stream available for download if necessary; it is
30 megabytes.

I am using Debian Lenny, with libxine 1.1.14-6. (If the issue may have
been fixed in later versions please tell me so and I will try to build
a later version.)

Would be thankful for any hints.
