Xine sometimes fails to create new engine

Hi,

I am using xine-lib-1.1.16 in Ubuntu 8.10. Sometimes I observe that
xine_new() which creates new xine_t object returning null. Could anyone
please tell me what is the reason for it, and what is the solution?
