Re: can't read output from xine-remote

Not getting any reply to this, but I have found a work around that I 
thought I would share with the next person trying to get xine-remote to 
work in their scripts.

First off, it seem that the volume control in xine does not have much 
dynamic range, but it is capable of muting the audio form xine 
completely.  So first thing is to set the volume to 100% with:
xine-remote -c "set audio volume 100"
you only need to do this once.

Then use amixer to adjust the volume
amixer set Master playback <volume percent desired>%

You can use
amixer get Master playback
to get the settings for the master volume.  You will need to pull the 
piece of information you want from the output of that command.

This works for me.  I am using the pulse audio sound server.
