Unable to play mms streams with xine.

When I try to play an audio stream which is mms encoded gxine connects correctly 
to the mms server but as soon as xine starts decoding the mms stream it fails 
with the laconic message: No input plugin was found.

My OS is Fedora 12 AMD64 version and I've installed everything which smells like 
xine to no avail. Also essential-amd64-20071007 is installed into 
/usr/lib64/codecs with no effect.

I need some help to point me in the right direction. Right now I have no new 
idea to pursue.
