Support for libass and embedded fonts?

Will xine ever support libass and embedded fonts like many backends 
(mplayer, gstreamer, vlc) now do? I ask this because both essential for 
rendering stylized subtitle formats (such as ASS) that are found in 90% 
of Matroska (MKV) files in existence.
