Compiled Xine lacks pulseaudio

I just downloaded the latest xine, which should supports pulseaudio if I
read it right, and compiled it. Yet it only offers null, file, oss, not
even alsa.
I tried to copy over the pulseaudio plugin from the previous version,
into the plugin folder, but it seems it just gets ignored.
Any idea what's wrong?
