Non-mpeg streams on DXR3

Hi.
I am sorry for bothering you, but I can't play AVI through my DXR3 output
(mpeg streams play fine).

I tried to get the xine-lib 1.1.17 sources, recompile, enable faad support,
but no luck. In spite the configure script claims I should be able
to play the avi files, I can't. 

This is the error that I see when running xine and selecting an XVID encoded
AVI file:

[mpeg1video @ 0xa96d3e0]only YUV420 is supported
xiTK received SIGSEGV signal, RIP.
Aborted

Any advice is more than welcomed. If I managed to get it work thanks to 
help of this group, I promise to write a tutorial.
