Hey guys/gals! Just joined the XviD list. I'm real new to this whole DVD encoding business so please bear with my silly questions sometimes. I've been scouring through doom9.org, and I think I have a pretty good handle on things. I still haven't done a full encode so far, but I'll be doing it once I go home in 2 1/2 hours. Just a quick overview.... I built myself a MSI MegaPC (SFF PC) with a P4 1.7Ghz and 512Mb of DDR RAM. 120Gb WD HDD (8Mb Cache) and a GeForce 4 MX 440 VGA Card with TV-OUT. The system also has a Lite-On 16X DVDROM Drive in it too. Anyways, I already have transferred my collection of MP3 files on the MSI PC and since it's hooked up to my Yamaha Reciever it sounds good. I've tried playing DVD's and they are good. Now since I have about 40 or so DVD's I would lik to encode them to XviD and have a "library" of sorts. Either way, this is gonna be interesting. I also have another machine, an Athlon 3200+ with an ASUS 16X DVDROM drive, and I could use that to encode too. I'm hoping I manage to encode all my movies in about 10 days time, perhaps quicker. I do have another machine with an Athlon 2000+ and also another machine with a Celeron 1.5Ghz (overclocked 1.3Ghz). Hmm.. perhaps I could use some form of distributed encoding :) Cheers!
