xvid.ax compilation error

Hi,
 I am trying to build the xvid directshow frontend
under cygwin.
 I did a 
   cd dshow
   make

make: *** No rule to make target `debug.obj', needed
by `xvid.ax'.  Stop.


 How can I fix this??

 I was able compile build/generic and vfw modules.
