MP3 is dead

...Fraunhofer started to ask for a license fee not only for encoders,
but also for decoders. I wonder what are the effects of this on the DivX
format.
If i understand things correctly, this should be one more reason to
accelerate the switch to Ogg for the sound stream in DivX.

Of course, there are multiple compatibility issues: between different
codecs, between different players/encoders, between old software and new
movies, etc.
