Modifying belle-sip to send Authorization header on a 483 response

Hi, I am working with a SIP service which is not strictly compliant with the spec. They send a 483 too many hops response when linphone sends a register request without the authorization header. If I understand correctly, belle-sip/linphone only sends a register request with the authorization header if the response was 401 or 407. How do I modify belle-sip to make this change? I was looking through the source code in transaction.c, auth_helper.c and a few more files and couldn't quite figure it out. Any help is super appreciated!
