Provisional response for BYE Request

Hello,
I'd like to clarify if a SIP Provisional response (1xx) may be
sent in response to a BYE Request. As per RFC 3261, Sections 17.1.2.2
and sections 17.2.2 both client and server non-Invite transactions can
handle a Provisional Response to a non-Invite request.
So I'm assuming this applies to the BYE Request and is supported by the
NIST SIP stack. Is this correct?
All descriptions of 1xx responses are tied with the INVITE message and
hence the question.
