Rodrigo,

You can find the project referenced below via Google. Your questions are
valid, but require extensive answers. Suggest to try the SIMPLE working
group mailing list (and some self study, e.g. read RFC3265)

Regards,
Jeroen

  Hi Jeroen,

Thank you very much for the hints.

Could you give me some directions to find answers to the following
questions, or could you say some thing about?

  - What exactly is Presence or a Presence system, and its actual
utility, in a context of a telecommunication network?

  - Can I implement Presence by just using NIST-SIP? For that,
should I use some another system out of the NIST sphere?

  - Where can I find the JAIN SIP Presence proxy project, so that I
will get the code?

Any hint will be very helpful!!

  Regards,

  Rodrigo Pimenta Carvalho.

Yes, in the sense that MESSAGE and SUBSCRIBE/NOTIFY are all supported
methods, and the associated headers (eg Allow-Events, Subscription-State)
can be parsed.

No, in the sense that there is not much more support beyond that - nothing
to help you maintain subscription state or timers for example (it is not
part of JSR-32)

There is a project on a JAIN SIP Presence proxy which has some code you
might use.

  Regards,

  Jeroen

    Hi.

Does the NIST-SIP implement the RFC 3428 and RFC 3265?

    That is:

-SIP extensions for instant message and

    - SIP specific Event Notification

    Thanks a lot .

    Rodrigo Pimenta Carvalho.
