+1 for this more generic approach, as it would allow managing other
resource types (for an example, compressed attachments like zip,
tar.gz and more would sound like useful). Using the link as an
heuristics seems wise. :-)

If this currently sounds off-scope for development team, creating a
feature request in this direction with a link to this thread would be
nice so this won't (possibly) get lost. ;-)
