I reinstalled Amaya, this time watching the install sequence carefully. I found that i had to DESELECT the option to do associations as it was already selected. I do not know if that was because it 'remembered' a previous install or whether the default is to do associations ..... but the option to opt out is there ok! thanks for pointing it out. Hi John, > Installing Amaya forces files of type htm to > open with Amaya. > This should be a USER OPTION and not forced on him. I just checked that this is configurable during setup (see attached screenshot). You may have selected it by mistake in the setup, having it selected from a previous installation or even associated ".htm" manually using the "Open with..." option in Windows Explorer: I can't reproduce this. If you upgraded your previous install, didn't select the ".htm" and Amaya didn't update its file association settings, than it may be a bug. In my case, I've uninstalled the previous snapshot before installing this one (11.3pre1) and didn't select that extension: my ".htm" files are opening with Firefox, as expected. > That style of setup is to close to the Microsoft --- we know > what is right for you philosophy. I guess you meant "too close" and I agree: I also hate software which changes my settings without asking. ;-) Regards, Helder -- -- John Russell, [email protected] http://home.cogeco.ca/~ve3ll http://home.cogeco.ca/~trains http://home.cogeco.ca/~cipher
