If you have read trough the documentation of amaya, you should also have
found the reason of being for amaya. As far as I recall, amaya is an
example implementation of an editor for the pure html documentation.
Hence, you with your slackware background should have had no problem to
get the source, the requirements and the (not just a) development
environment up and running to get going. Be it that I have not tried it
that way, I'm just an other user of unix/linux (various implementations
since 1988) and got amaya runing without any problem on any platform I
tried it (might not be all of the above...)
On the other hand, I donnot recall any real questions from you about not
getting the compilation or installation going or that there are some
problems somewhere in the installation and/or build traject.
So be nice and describe the problems you had/have so they can be updated
by someone. Or even better send in those updates.
