add custom adsense code in each post

Hi all.
i have a blog and i have added the adsense javascript code in widgets in 
the right bar with success( i can see the ads ok). now i 
want to add adsense code under each post. i am not using the options for 
monetization in the blogger since it is not working and this is why i am 
putting html/javascript code(google knows about the bug but its not 
relevant to my issue)

the problem is that 
-i go in the template (edit html)i am using
-i find the point where the comments start(after each post)
-i insert the javascript code there
-but no ads are showing. i know that this is the right place because i 
added another code (to show badge for google play app store) and
it is shown therefore it should be the right place.

i placed the javascript adsense code right above the
"<b:if cond='data:post.allowComments'>
      <h4>
        <b:if cond='data:post.numComments == 1'>..."
am i doing something wrong?
ofcourse the adsense account is approved and working since i am already 
using it
