Extract a list of random blogs

Hi we are currently working on our academic project under social network 
analytics domain.

I'm currently using gdata(python) to extract my feeds. But I require 
content of a few blogs that belong to random users.
I read that for public blogs, we can replace "default" in
query.feed = "/feeds/default/blogs" 
with the user Id. I tried using the user id of a friend's blog and got 
"feed not enabled" error.
Is there a way to 
a) Extract a list of user ids available, so that I can extract content from 
random public blogs.
b) Deal with the "feed not enabled" error.

Any help would be highly appreciated.
