Uploading images solution

I know that the blogger API doesn't have a image upload endpoint. And that the suggested solution is to use the picasa api. Does anyone have any better ideas? I'm using picasa and so far its really really bad. Errors all over the place. The same code works one time, the next moment it doesn't. Honestly I think that the correct solution is for blogger have a photo upload endpoint. I think its silly not to have one. Its like saying, "You'll need to upload your paragraph text through a 3rd party, wait for a response, then make another request and send the different format back to us" Anyways, what I'm really looking for here is an acceptable alternative.
