Problems with importing blog posts. Please help.

Please excuse if this is getting posted twice. I can't seem to find any 
traces of the first post. Hence re-posting.

I tried importing about 1500 posts using XML file generated by the 
wordpress-to-blogger converter. But after importing 1028 posts, the 
importer hung - no error,
I tried to edit the xml to delete the already imported entries and retry 
import. This time, it hung right away.

Is there any daily limit on how much can be imported in a day?
