why can't I use a background TEXTURE instead of a solid color?

Just solid color which looks bland. A nice soft crinkle texture would be nice! Attached is a picture of part of my blog site with an arrow pointing to the area in question. I asked for help with this on the other blogger help forum but no one could help. Maybe someone here with coding experience could help. I am not a coder!
