Meta tags not working

Hello. i think there's a problem with my meta tags. I already edited it on 
the settings however, when I share my post on facebook, the description of 
the link just says, YOUR DESCRIPTION HERE. I already tried to trounleshoot 
the HTML of theme by looking for the YOUR DESCRIPTION HERE text, and 
changing it to my meta tag description, it still didnt work so I reverted 
it back.

Is there a way that the excerpt of the post becomes the description on 
facebook share?
