cURL Authentication

Has anyone used cURL to authenticate (OAuth2 or 3) ? 
I wish to write a simple shell script that will extract the latest entries 
from my public blog and save them to file on my home server. I have managed 
to achieve this using Python code (from an example in the Google 
libraries), but too much seems to happen behind the covers and I can't see 
what is actually going on. I would rather see and control the whole process.
