Change the size of fixed image in Soho Theme

I was told to post here for help.

I have been playing with the Soho Theme and pretty much like have I have it.

The only thing that bothers me is the size of the fixed image. I changed it 
to a image of my choice and have tried loading in at least 6 different 
sizes, hit apply to blog and view.
But every attempt has it showing the size of the original image (cat).

Two different people suggestion a code to put in CSS but neither of those 
worked.

Is there a way to reduce the height of the image?
