We did not test that. However, users did show a preference to have the
buttons grouped together. That might be a better approach than making the
user go from one side of the page to the other. Do a wireframe and test it
on 5 or 6 users... let me know the results :->

Do you have any studies to support this? We conducted a small user study
and found the opposite. I suspect this is a technology driven
standard...
