It's not a browser based installer engine though: was that the point
of Paola's question?

I installed Picasa this morning on a workstation. It's fine, but it's
a pretty conventional application installation. My sense of Paola's
question was that it had to do with apps that are installed while the
user remains in the browser environment.

Perhaps I'm incorrect. Flash would be an example I would use (without
splitting hairs over whether flash is an "app" or a "plugin." It just
makes a convenient example.)
