You have a very interesting research project in the works.  While I do not
have a specific work that fits your question, I did find a promising start
with Google Scholar.

Here is the process I followed to find scholarly works on the matters you
propose.

1. Go to the URL: http://scholar.google.com/  
2. Enter the query as follows: "loop of interaction" "Human Computer
Interaction" 
3. The resulting URL, (
http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=%22loop+of+interaction%22+%22Human+Compu
ter+Interaction%22&hl=en&lr= )generated several works that may give you a
good start.

One more query I might try is: "loop of interaction" "Human Computer
Interaction" "Art" to see if it narrows your results.

Hello All,

My name is David Herbert and I am hoping that you will be 
able to answer a query I have about defining / 
categorising / analysing an element of the interactive 
process between a human user and a website.
  
I am currently undertaking a PhD in Internet Art 
attempting to categorise interaction and have recently 
been looking at a part of the interactive process between 
the user of a piece of online art and the piece itself. 
For the purposes of this question internet art (or online 
art, net art, web art, browser art, etc) can be viewed as 
the equivalent of an ordinary website (look here for some 
preliminary info on net art if interested

I have been looking at interactivity, mainly with art 
(both digital and not), and through this process I have 
realised that I am specifically looking at one part of the 
interactive process.
  
In particular, I am looking at websites that the involve 
the user to creating some material (text, images, etc) 
which will then be viewed by others who can also 
participate by adding their own material. I am then 
analysing this interaction in relation to how it appears 
to other users and in the context of the piece or website 
itself. Through the limitations of the project I am unable 
to look at the thought processes of the user in terms of 
why they interacted in the way that they did, I am only 
concerned in how it looks like they interacted.
  
Having established that there is a specific element of 
interaction that is of interest, I attempted to breakdown 
this interactive process to identify and define this 
element. This preliminary model of the interactive process 
was then developed:
  
Cognition (Thought process before any action is carried 
out)
             |
Action (typing on the keyboard for example)
             |
Outcome (The appearance of the material on the computer 
screen)
             |
Reaction (How the outcome relates to previous interactions 
/ the piece as a whole)
             |
loops back to Cognition
  
  
Within this model it would be the "Reaction" that I am 
trying to categorise.
  
Oddly , none of my previous research into interactivity 
has led to anything that has labelled itself as belonging 
to HCI and it was only after developing the above model 
that I stumbled across the Wikipedia entry for HCI 
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human-computer_interaction 
). Here it suggests that there is a defined "loop of 
interaction" that suggests greater analysis of the 
interactive process has been developed. My problem is that 
I am unable to find any further information on this "loop 
of interaction" or anything else that relates to my model 
above.
  
So my question is, can you point me to someone / somewhere 
/ information / papers etc about the "loop of interaction" 
or the interactive process that involves analysis of the 
specific elements of this loop.
