We are recruiting people with visual design skills to participate in a rese=
arch study. Participants do not need to be experts - anyone working on a vi=
sual design that is personally meaningful such as a website would be welco=
me to participate. The purpose of the project is to study the feedback that=
people receive from online platforms and to learn how to build future tech=
nologies that improve this experience. We will pay $70 for your participat=
ion and will step you through the study.

The study has two phases. First, you will need to either create a visual d=
esign (e.g. logo, Web page, poster, etc.) for a problem of your own choosin=
g or submit a visual design from an ongoing project. Already completed proj=
ects that you are no longer working on does not match our research criteria=
. After submitting the design, our feedback collection site will help you =
get feedback from different online platforms. We will later ask you to rate=
the perceived quality of the feedback received and discuss your perception=
s of the feedback.

Second, you will need to make a second iteration on the design according to=
the feedback received from the first phase. Again, our feedback collection=
site will help you get feedback from different online platforms. We will t=
hen ask you to rate the perceived quality of the feedback received and disc=
uss your perceptions of the feedback and how it might be best integrated in=
to the design process. The follow-up ratings and interview should take no m=
ore than 90 minutes.

In order to participate in this study, we ask that you satisfy the followi=
ng criteria:

* You must be at least 18 years of age.

* You must be willing to create or provide two iterations of an ongoing des=
ign project.

* You must have an account on at least one social media site such as Facebo=
ok or Twitter.

* You must be willing to post and allow us to post your designs to several =
online platforms. The postings can be deleted once the study is complete.

* You must allow us to maintain a copy of the designs and feedback for rese=
arch purposes.

The study has been approved by the University of Illinois Institutional Rev=
iew Board. We will provide $70 for participation, $25 for participating in =
the first phase and $45 for the second phase. The gratuity will be provided=
through Paypal, so you will need to provide your Paypal address. If you ar=
e interested in participating or want further information, please contact G=
race Yen ([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>). I would be more t=
han happy to provide further information.

Best,

Grace Yen, PhD Candidate
