As a user, I want to get told if I use something for which a better alternative exists or that has no effect anymore, on which my code might rely. Especially for users not updating to every new release, I think it's unrealistic to read all documentation about their existing code to see if they should update it. I don't care if that's via deprecation warnings or the code just not being there anymore though (e.g., via CURL_NO_OLDIES).
