Hi Stefan, Thanks for confirming this, and for an interesting write-up of the problem :) The write-up talks about the memory leak as being the observed symptom; in our case, I think it was more severe than that--each thread also had an associated open file descriptor (eventfd, I believe), causing our long-running process to run out of fds once enough threads have been spawned. Anyway, glad this was found and reverted. I'll look into enabling c-ares. In another part of this thread, Daniel mentioned that c-ares can behave differently from getaddrinfo; are known differences documented somewhere? (I'd like to ensure we won't get affected).
