The librtmp patches that we carry predate when I started working here, 
but they are sending some extra flags to the server, which probably was 
necessary for some specific server at some point in time.

The software I work on monitors the input and/or output of systems like 
that and tell you whether it is working or not. It's closed-source 
commercial software, but we do try to contribute fixes upstream to any 
of the open-source libraries that we are using if and when we run in to 
problems.
