Use Net_DNS to resolve hostnames?

Hello,

I am building a robot. Is there a way to let Curl use Net_DNS 
(http://pear.php.net/package/Net_DNS/) to resolve hostnames, rather 
then the resolver of the OS? With Net_DNS I can easily rotate through 
a list of nameservers.

As an aside, it seems to be not possible to let Curl report the 
remote IP adres that was used.
