Or something else? Cloning any node (e.g. Text or Element) will copy the baseURI. However, nobody else does that. I filed a bug to remove support for xml:base given it's nowhere else: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=903372 Not entirely sure what the right solution is for baseURI though.
