Bit of a fickle question...

Is it possible to modify an image in Javascript? I want to make thumbnails
greyscale in Firefox, to mimic the (very simply achieved) filter behaviour
in IE.

I'm sure years ago before I even got into webdev I saw websites that had
greyscale images that became saturated when you rolled over them, but an
extensive search on google hasn't thrown any light on the subject. Is the
only answer to actually use a 2nd thumbnail that has been converted to
greyscale beforehand?

cheers
