As I understand it you seem to be doing some tests by yourself, not on 
your userbase, so how about using an extension? There's an interresting 
Mozilla/Firefox extension named 'LORI' that does what you seem to be 
searching for. It measures the time from request to first response and 
the times from first request to full page load/display, as well as 
showing the page-size, though I didn't check if it just shows the bytes 
for the html or rather for all the images as well...
