Could it be different versions of the DLL that provides the commons controls? I forget the name of it, but I'd bet IE uses the same drop-down list as every other native Windows app. Maybe the different machines have different versions? Also, is everyone using the same font size? Same "skin" (classic Windows versus Windows XP Teletubby)? Other OS-level display settings? Just some random thoughts--I have no idea if they're really related to your question.
