Absolute positioning - a done deal?

Hello all, this is my first post, having visited the archives and been a
regular reader of quirksmode. I have a really general (dumb?) question. Once
an element has been assigned a style position of absolute, can it be put
back into the document flow? I searched the archives for this and googled
it, but wasn't able to find anything. I do have some sample code if you want
to see my specific problem I am having with some ads that are coming in with
absolute positioning through external scripts on our site, so feel free to
ask for it. Hope I can learn a lot here.
