In Opera, you will run into two security policies preventing this from working: firstly, a page from http: / https: may not load content from file: and secondly, when a script reads the .value of a file input you will only see the file name and not the path, so it would make an invalid IMG src attribute anyway. We know that there are use cases for this functionality and some new features have been proposed to meet those.
