News Module - Enhancement Idea

Some thoughts around the news module. It would be nice
if the whole module were programmable to allow
displaying news by Topic instead of sequentially. 
Such as:

Weighting topics, overall/by topic.
Displaying a topic header, then news for that topic in
a selected order. (ie: General News... topics... World
News ... topics, etc).
