I've just noticed this post... We've got a very similar project at=20
Southampton - to create an archive of crystalography data which can by=20
harvested by the OAI system. Both in normal boring DC and some=20
crystal-specific schema we are yet to decide on. (which would contain=20
A,B,C,Alpha,Gamma etc)

It's still being developed but it's  a neat idea. Perhaps when it's up=20
and running you'll be able to automatically extract CIF files from=20
it... or at least the summary thereof.

The intention is that this archive will hold every stage of the data=20
not just the CIF
