Joe,

Entering the documents again by hand is not necessary. There is help 
available on the Eprints 2 Wiki. (I'm assuming you are using eprints.)

Regarding URL persistence in your situation, ideally you would use the 
same domain name at the different college (even if it resolves to a 
different IP number). Then all the URLs stay the same.

If this isn't possible, this may be a good time to consider a separate 
system for maintaining URL persistence to your archive service pages, 
such as the PURR system I mentioned previously. That way citations won't 
break across domain name and URL pathname changes in the future.
