(dynamic) server terminated by calling exit with status '25'

Hi all,

I have a problem with my FastCGI application.
Every few days, it stops working for a while.

The Apache error log shows:

(dynamic) server  terminated by calling exit with status '25'

followed by restart and exit with status 25 three times.

After that, the restart interval is backed up to 10 minutes and the 
site cannot be accessed.

After the ten minutes are up, it seems to recover.
A graceful restart of Apache also works.

I know that there are patches available to change the 10 minutes 
interval to something smaller
(and I am seriously considering to do just that).

But I am curious about what status "25" is and if I can maybe do 
something to prevent it.

My setup is Apache/1.3.31 with statically linked mod_fastcgi on Linux 
2.4.21-15.0.3.ELsmp.
The application is written in Perl 5.8.5.
